Sistem Operasi Brillo Dari Google Untuk Internet of Things (IoT)

Google mengenalkan tentang sistem operasi Brillo yang sedang mereka garap. Sistem operasi tersebut merupakan turunan dari Android, namun berfungsi sebgai penggerak Internet of Things (IoT).  IoT berarti perangkat-perangkat rumah, seperti lampu atau lemari pendingin, yang dapat terhubung ke internet. Perangkat semacam ini diyakini akan jadi masa depan dunia teknologi.

Penerapan IoT, menurut Senior Vice President Google Sundar Picai, bisa merambah banyak aspek. Misalnya pertanian dengan alat-alat IoT hingga soal pengaturan jadwal bus kota yang terhubung ke internet.

Sebagai pelengkap proyek IoT tersebut, Google juga membuat Weave yang disebut sebagai alat komunikasi antara ponsel dengan perangkat IoT. Menggunakan Weave, perangkat IoT dapat memahami perintah-perintah yang diberikan penggunanya.

Weave adalah sebuah layer komunikasi yang membuat perangkat bisa saling berkomunikasi dari ponsel, menuju cloud lalu terhubung ke perangkat Brillo milik Anda.

Banyak yang memprediksi bahwa Internet of Things adalah “the next big thing” di dunia teknologi informasi, hal ini karena Internet of Things menawarkan banyak potensi yang bisa digali. Contoh sederhana implementasi dari Internet of Things misalnya adalah kulkas yang dapat memberitahukan kepada pemiliknya via SMS atau email tentang makanan dan minuman apa saja yang sudah habis dan harus distok lagi.

Misalnya lagi, sebuah kamera bisa memahami kata "take a picture", atau sebuah pintu bisa memahami kata Lock dan Unlock. Weave dan Brillo dibuat terpisah, jadi bisa menggunakan Weave pada perangkat yang sudah Anda buat atau menggunakannya dengan Brillo.
