PENELITI di Amerika Serikat menyimpulkan, wanita butuh paha, pinggul dan bokong yang besar untuk menghasilkan bayi yang pintar.

Menurut Profesor Will Lassek, epidemiologi kesehatan masyarakat di Pittsburgh University, Pennsylvania, ketiga tempat penampungan lemak tersebut memainkan peran penting dalam mendorong perkembangan otak bayi yang baru lahir melalui menyusui. Lemak yang ada dalam 3 area tersebut menjadi depot bagi perkembangan otak bayi.

Anda perlu banyak lemak untuk membuat sistem saraf, dan lemak di daerah ini juga diperkaya dengan DHA (docosahexaenoic acid), yang merupakan komponen yang sangat penting dalam otak manusia.

Inilah jawaban misteri mengapa wanita lebih banyak memiliki lemak dalam tubuh yang jumlahnya 30 persen dari total berat tubuhnya.

Wanita telah menukar otot dengan lemak sehingga kekuatannya hanya sekitar sepertiga dari pria. Sementara tubuh pria terdiri dari hanya 5 sampai 10 persen lemak. Kelebihan lemak pada wanita akan hilang selama menyusui karena dibutuhkan oleh otak bayi mereka.

Profesor Lassek menambahkan ibu yang menyusui biasanya kehilangan satu pon lemak (setengah kilo) setiap bulannya.

Temuan lain mengatakan wanita yang memiliki paha dan bokong yang besar seperti Kim Kardashian dan Jennifer Lopez bisa menghasilkan anak yang cerdas.

Menurut David Bainbridge, seorang ahli reproduksi di Universitas Cambridge yang mempelajari bentuk tubuh wanita, Pembentukan otak dan lipid ASI (lemak) sebagian besar berasal dari lemak yang tersimpan dalam paha dan bokong ibu. Wanita dengan paha besar memiliki tingkat lipid yang lebih tinggi. Bahkan ada bukti bahwa ibu dan anak-anak mereka lebih cerdas.

Penelitian ini menindaklanjuti sebuah penelitian yang diterbitkan bulan Juni lalu yang menemukan mengapa pria lebih tertarik dengan wanita yang memiliki tubuh curvy.
